The GAMIVO.com platform has added a new product category, eSIMs, which are digital SIM cards that allow you to connect to mobile networks without replacing the physical card. This is a very convenient solution when traveling abroad, as it provides constant internet access without the risk of a high bill.
Holafly is the first company to introduce eSIMs on GAMIVO.com. This Spanish brand specializes in selling international eSIM cards that provide unlimited Internet access during foreign voyages.
“An eSIM is a digital SIM card that allows you to connect to mobile networks without replacing your physical SIM card. Instead of relying on public Wi-Fi, you can activate an international plan with an eSIM and use it while traveling. This allows you to use essential travel apps, check exchange rates, use GPS, and stay in touch with family and friends. The eSIM is also a great solution not only for tourists, but also for remote workers who want to work from abroad,” explains Alex Bryszkowski, the person in charge of business partnerships at Holafly.
eSIMs are now available on GAMIVO, offering a convenient solution for travelers. The selection of supported destinations will continue to expand over time.
eSIMs take over the market
First introduced in 2017, eSIM technology is gradually gaining popularity and slowly taking over the market. SIM cards may therefore soon become a relic of the past, much like optical drive computers. According to estimates, there will be nearly 600 million eSIM-equipped smartphone connections worldwide in 2024, more than triple the number reported in 2022. Global adoption of eSIM technology has been driven by the increasing availability of eSIM-enabled smartphones, as well as the increased number of mobile network operators that are deploying the technology on their networks. In contrast, Juniper Research forecasts a rapid growth in the number of eSIM users, from 40 million in 2024 to more than 215 million in 2028.
“In many countries, even a moment’s use of the Internet via the local network means a hefty bill. Dedicated eSIMs for travelers are an attractive alternative to roaming services, as they avoid such unpleasant surprises. Convenience, security, and eSIM technology implementations by giants like Apple and Google are also important,” adds Agata Karaśkiewicz.
GAMIVO is expecting that its strategy of implementing new product areas on the platform will build an even wider audience and customer base. In the third quarter of this year, nearly 5.8 million users used the platform developed by the company.
“GAMIVO was created as a platform for gamers and products for them still account for a significant part of the product range. However, we are successively pursuing a strategy of reaching out to more customer groups, as modern, digitally delivered products can be found not only in the gaming world. This is evidenced, for example, by subscriptions to popular streaming platforms already present on GAMIVO, or gift cards that allow shopping at well-known stores. eSIM cards are a technology that is gaining popularity, so its appearance on the platform was a natural choice for us,” Agata Karaśkiewicz concludes.
